Preformatted LifeDrive MicroDrive, drive is ready to be installed, just unplug your battery, unplug existing MicroDrive, plug in new MicroDrive, and reconnect the battery. This is the original Hitachi MicroDrive - this is the mechanical, physically rotating disk drive, not the Flash drive which has no moving parts and which is better.

If your Palm LifeDrive is stuck on the Palm logo(many times if you hold it up to your ear you will hear clicking) and does not go any further your MicroDrive is bad and this MicroDrive will fix the problem.
