Repair of my Garmin GPS

I was referred to Short Tronics by Garmin (I believe) for repair service. After owning this GPS unit for about four years, it failed me while on a car trip. My best guess was that the battery had finally given up.
My initial impulse was to take it to a local (FL) Batteries Plus for battery replacement. After batt installation, the unit would illuminate the screen, but there was no \"intelligence\". I then researched repair services through Garmin and finally shipped it to Chris.

Chris responded within a couple days with a diagnosis and a reasonable estimate. Apparently, the Batt + component was OK, but somehow the unit firmware had gotten corrupted, possibly at the time of new battery...anyway Chris re-load new firmware and all was well again. He loaded the newest map-set from G, shipped the GPS back to me (all within only a few day and ALL IS WELL AGAIN.

Great job, expertly done, and \"super prompt\" service. I will highly recommend him!
