I first came across Chris\'s website when I was searching the web to see if there was a way to repair my Garmin GPS unit, which was not responding to touch screen input. I was delighted to find that a replacement part was available at a reasonable cost. I started to take my unit apart, intending to order and install a replacement display and digitizer. All went well until I was trying to release the last and smallest ribbon connector, at which point I managed to snap the receiver off the motherboard.
I assumed that this probably meant that I was going to have to junk the unit, but I emailed Chris who seemed confident that the problem could be fixed and suggested that I sent the unit in for evaluation. The evaluation terms seemed very fair: either accept the quote for repair, or pay a nominal charge plus return shipping to get the unit back, or donate the unit for spares and pay nothing.
I sent the unit in, and got a quote the day it was delivered. I accepted this, sent an online payment, and the repaired unit was shipped out the following day.
The Garmin Nuvi 650 now seems to be in fine shape, and likely to provide years of extra service, very welcome considering my investment in a couple of lifetime update plans. I would like to congratulate Chris on an excellent service -- quick, efficient, friendly, and very reasonably priced.
