I have had to have the Zumo 450 repaired twice by Short Tronics INC...FOR DIFFERENT PROBLEMS. An example of service...I sent the Garmin in on Monday morning from Florida to MN...had it back on the bike on SATURDAY!!! IT IS A SHAME THAT ONLY FIVE STARS ARE AVAILABLE...Chris is a 10!!

zumo 550 fixed!

I noticed that the rubber page button on my zumo 550 was rotated and upon closer examination discovered that it was almost completely torn loose from the flexible rubber surround and just sitting in there ready to fall out. After finding that Garmin no longer supplied parts for this unit I discovered reference to PalmDR on the Zumo forums. I sent my unit to Short Tronics Inc for their special urethane back fill repair and a new main board battery. Good price and an amazingly, blazingly fast turn around!

This is great service for those of us married to our older devices for me Garmin has not yet produced a suitable replacement for the 550, so being able to keep it going is fantastic.

Restored my Zumo 550 to like new condition

My Garmin Zumo 550 stopped working after 7 years of great performance. I was referred to Chris & PalmDr.com by a fellow motorcyclist at Americade (Thanks, Pat). After using the repair diagnosis section of the website, I shipped my unit to Chris on Saturday. They received it on Tuesday, repaired the unit an returned it to me that same day. I received my repaired unit on Thursday - 6 days after sending it, for a very reasonable repair cost. I tried out the unit the next day and it worked as well as it did when it was new. Chris kept me informed by e-mail throughout the process. This was one of the best experiences I have ever had from any company. Thank you for the outstanding service, Chris.

Repair of my Garmin GPS

I was referred to Short Tronics by Garmin (I believe) for repair service. After owning this GPS unit for about four years, it failed me while on a car trip. My best guess was that the battery had finally given up.
My initial impulse was to take it to a local (FL) Batteries Plus for battery replacement. After batt installation, the unit would illuminate the screen, but there was no \"intelligence\". I then researched repair services through Garmin and finally shipped it to Chris.

Chris responded within a couple days with a diagnosis and a reasonable estimate. Apparently, the Batt + component was OK, but somehow the unit firmware had gotten corrupted, possibly at the time of new battery...anyway Chris re-load new firmware and all was well again. He loaded the newest map-set from G, shipped the GPS back to me (all within only a few day and ALL IS WELL AGAIN.

Great job, expertly done, and \"super prompt\" service. I will highly recommend him!
